Job Description: We are seeking a Director of Transit to lead our growth and innovation in the Transit and Transportation Demand Management sector. This executive will own the strategy, execution, and scaling of our Glance Transit solutions across Federal and State Department of Transportations/Transit, Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPO), national and state recognized Transit associations (such as the American Public Transit Association), Transit agencies, Engineering firms/consultants and national companies serving as third party operators for transit partners  and consulting firms engaged in Transportation Demand Management (TDM) nationwide. 

The Director of Transit will seek opportunities to present and collaborate at national and state transit events, in person and virtually,  to share the Glance Transit Solution and be responsible for setting the vision, driving market penetration, and building high-performing teams that accelerate adoption of connected vehicles that include all types bus, microtransit vehicles, and vanpooling programs nationwide.

This is a senior leadership role for a proven executive who thrives in fast-moving, mission-driven environments, and who can chart a course in markets and delve into the various funding approaches for transit and transportation demand management while also guiding the client by assisting with grants and other funding sources.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Market Vision:

  • Define and drive the overall strategy for Applied Information’s Glance Transit and Transportation Demand Management business.

  • Establish relationships and long-term growth objectives at the federal, regional, state and local levels for competitive positioning, and market share goals.

  • Study the differing State Transit legislative funding structures, Federal Transit Administration (FTA) changes/updates and trends related to connected transit vehicles. Establish a thought leadership role in the Transit/TDM space through National and State Transit agencies as it relates to funding and initiatives that help to anticipate industry trends, Federal and state regulatory shifts, and emerging technologies to inform company direction.

Sales & Business Development:

  • Lead national sales operations across direct channels and distribution partners.

  • Develop and execute business plans with measurable milestones and success metrics.

  • Expand Applied Information’s presence by forging relationships with National & State Transit Associations, Federal Transit Administration policy officials, Regional and local transit agencies, DOTs, consulting firms specializing in transit and TDM related initiatives.

  • Champion the adoption of priority control, and connected transit, microtransit and vanpool solutions.

Partnerships & Ecosystem Development:

  • Build strategic partnerships with other transit connective based minded entities such as universities, legislators, distributors, technology providers, and public sector stakeholders.

  • Represent Applied Information and Glance Transit at national and international Transit conferences and state associations. 

  • Create/Pursue/Submit articles supporting transit connectivity success stories to national and state transit related associations and periodicals.

  • Create pathways to assist transit agencies and transit operations firms to fund the technology and remove adoption barriers and influence the ecosystem toward connected transit nationally.

Organizational Leadership:

  • Recruit, mentor, and inspire a high-performing business development and sales organization that can speak the language and nuances of the transit challenges, performance requirements and agency goals.

  • Drive a culture of accountability, urgency, and positive customer impact and experience.

  • Build scalable processes, reporting systems, and operational rigor to support sustained growth.

Cross-Functional Impact:

  • Partner with Product, Transit vehicle manufacturers, Engineering, and Marketing to align market insights with product roadmaps.

  • Ensure customer feedback loops accelerate innovation and adoption while sharing the successes through shared media outlets.

  • Provide transit executive-level and C-level input to influence product strategy, pricing, and go-to-market positioning.

Qualifications:

  • Progressive senior leadership experience in Transportation and Transit Planning that includes grant knowledge from inception to implementation. Knowledge of Transit safety, Key Performance Indicators of transit reporting metrics, and experience as Director level for a transit agency with an understanding of the emerging importance of technology markets and their positive impacts to transit/microtransit/vanpooling and other market sectors.

  • Proven track record of public speaking, presentations and engagement. Transit and Transportation Demand Management industry knowledge and understanding of client challenges related to Federal Transit Administration grants as well as state and local funding

  • Passionate knowledge of transit, a pattern of success with grants and funding, Management experience, understanding of priority/preemption solutions, and the emerging importance for connected transit ecosystems.

  • Demonstrated ability to navigate public-sector procurement and public-private partnerships.

  • Strong executive presence in customer, partner, and industry settings.

  • Experience in shaping Transit/TDM initiatives and influencing  regional policy adoption is a plus.
